The
Problem
|
|
The abundance of cars, computers, video
game consoles, cable and satellite television, fast (and mostly
junk) foods, elevators, escalators and other creature comforts
of modern American life, combined with poor air quality, lack of
physical activity and poor diet have created a ticking public
health time bomb. With the proliferation of remote controls
for every electronic gadget, is it clear that this pushbutton
world has turned people into motionless slobs suffering from
self-inflicted premature senescence.
There is compelling evidence which shows that this sedentary
lifestyle and the lack of physical exercise are causing
overweight or obesity and related health problems among both
children and adults. From the American Medical Association (AMA)
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), various
private and government agencies dealing with public health
issues have all reached the same alarming conclusions. [Ever noticed that the parking
space nearest the main entrance is always taken? Now that's the
meaning of the sedentary lifestyle!]

Part of The
Solution
|
|
|
All
children are entitled to a long, healthy life and the pursuit of
happiness! The key to success is early prevention and
intervention by parents.
Along with proper diet, kids should be encouraged to participate
in physical activity and team sports. Fit N Fun is proud to be
part of this simple yet effective solution. With early
intervention kids can be prevented from developing unhealthy
lifestyles.
Our sports classes are designed to be lots of fun. Children
between the ages of 3 to 7 acquire basic skills while they enjoy
playing team sports. It helps them learn social skills and build
self-esteem and self-confidence. Fit N Fun promotes active, healthy habits that will
last for a lifetime

The goal: fun and fitness!

Just like all our sports classes, soccer class
starts with warm-up and stretching exercises followed by lessons
on physical coordination, balance and control of the soccer
ball. Kids are taught basic skills such as passing, dribbling,
maneuvering, eye-foot coordination, etc.
Each participant is provided with his/her own soccer ball. We
have a variety of cool activities that keep their attention and
interest -- games, obstacle courses, goalkeeping, scoring and
more. It's so much fun,
everybody loves soccer!
Safety Recommendation: cleats, shin
guards and protective eyewear for sunny days are recommended but
not required.

Each lesson is 45 minutes long and starts out with warm-up and
stretching exercises that build strength and flexibility,
followed by instructions on basic t-ball skills such as batting,
throwing, catching and running the bases.
We offer lots of other fun activities in our t-ball class. We provide
everything needed for this sport including equipment for batting practice, but kids are encouraged to bring their
own bat (soft, foamy bat) and mitt. T-ball
is children's favorite sport - its great fun!
Safety Recommendation: sunscreen and
sunglasses to shield the skin and the eyes from harmful UV
rays. Dress Code: appropriate outfit for sports and whether
conditions.

We start the class by jogging a few laps around the basketball court and
doing our regular warm-up and stretching exercises. Next, kids
learn all the basic skills of basketball -- dribbling,
rebounding, passing and shooting.
Fit
N Fun provides all the required equipment for basketball. We
take extra care to ensure safety when playing on paved courts -
no slam dunking allowed! Besides learning the fundamentals of basketball, kids also
participate in a variety of activities, drills and games. This
is all done in a cheerful and fun atmosphere. Great
workout - fun and fitness!
Safety Recommendation: same as above
plus kneepads or long pants.

After a brisk jog around the grassy fields
and the usual warm-up and stretching exercises, our tiny
tot golf lesson starts in earnest. Kids learn the proper golf
swing, the right club grip and the correct stroke for short
putts.
Kids are required to bring their own
lightweight golf clubs (drivers, putters and irons only). Lots of putting practice, practice, practice,
which helps children develop hand-eye coordination. Golf is a good
choice for kids who need to increase their attention span and
concentration. Our tiny tot golf
class is just clean, wholesome fun!
Safety Recommendation: the same as soccer and
t-ball.
